Family Urgently Seeks Support for Burn Victim Recovering in Hospital

Written by Primenewsplus

The family of 40-year-old Dacia Forrester is making an urgent public appeal for financial assistance after she sustained life-threatening injuries from a fire-related incident at a gas station in Whithorn, Westmoreland, on Thursday.

Her sister, Carol Blackwood-Hewitt, made an emotional plea on Friday, asking the public for support as the family fears for Dacia’s life. “I am pleading to the public; I am begging for help… I don’t want to lose her. Her birthday is on the 26th of February,” she said.

According to Stephen Josephs, co-founder of the Burn Foundation of Jamaica, Forrester has sustained third-degree burns over 70 per cent of her body. An air ambulance has been placed on standby to facilitate her transfer to a specialized medical facility once sufficient funds are raised. “We are racing against time,” Josephs told The Gleaner.
