Jamaican Man Convicted in Orlando Murders of Mother and Her One-Year-Old Daughter

Written by Primenewsplus

A Florida jury has convicted Jamaican national Doujon Griffiths in the 2021 killings of Massania Malcolm and her one-year-old daughter, Jordania Reid, bringing a measure of justice to a case that devastated their family and shocked their home community of Montego Bay.

THE KEY FACTS

The verdict: Griffiths was found guilty on all six counts against him, including first-degree murder with a firearm, first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder with a firearm. His sentencing is scheduled for November 16, 2026.

What happened: According to evidence presented in court, Malcolm and her boyfriend, Jordane “Sinnaway” Reid, had allowed Griffiths to stay in their home after learning that he was homeless. After approximately six weeks, the couple reportedly asked him to leave because he was not working or contributing to household expenses.

The attack: Prosecutors said Griffiths opened fire on Reid as the group headed toward the couple’s vehicle. Reid was shot multiple times but survived. Griffiths then reportedly forced Malcolm and her daughter into the vehicle at gunpoint and drove away.

Mother and child found dead: Two days later, the vehicle was discovered in an outdoor parking lot in Orlando. Malcolm had been shot and killed. Her one-year-old daughter reportedly died from suffocation caused by the intense heat inside the vehicle.

The arrest: Griffiths remained at large until March 2024, when he was arrested during a traffic stop in New Jersey. He was later extradited to Florida to face prosecution.

A Measure of Justice

Malcolm’s mother, Latoya Reid, described the guilty verdict as a bittersweet moment after years of grief and her fight to keep the memories of her daughter and granddaughter alive.

Violence against women and children is never acceptable. This guilty verdict cannot bring Massania and Jordania back, but it represents a measure of justice for their family.

Griffiths has now been convicted, and the next stage is sentencing. The full extent of the law should be applied when his sentence is determined.

May Massania Malcolm and little Jordania Reid continue to rest in peace. 🕊️
