NEW YORK, USA | November 7, 2025Hip-hop icon Nicki Minaj has joined the growing list of stars rallying behind Jamaica after Hurricane Melissa tore through the island, bringing catastrophic damage to western parishes.

Through her nonprofit, The Barbz Foundation, Minaj organized teams across the island to deliver relief supplies to families who lost homes and belongings in the storm. Volunteers wearing shirts emblazoned with “The Barbz Foundation” were seen in Westmoreland Shores and Montego Bay, distributing food packages, stoves, cooking gas, and household essentials to residents still recovering from the Category 5 hurricane.

Fans Praise “The Queen’s Work”

Videos and photos of the outreach quickly went viral, drawing an outpouring of gratitude online.

“Huge relief! Our family friend’s brother, missing since the hurricane in Jamaica’s Westmoreland Shores, has been found safe … He even saw Nicki Minaj’s team gathering essentials for help. A major thank you @NICKIMINAJ — this is an absolute blessing!” one user wrote on X.

Another fan added, “Nicki has her team out in Jamaica giving aid to everyone. The Queen doing Queen’s work, helping the people. Much love, Nicki!”

Hope After the Storm

Hurricane Melissa made landfall in southwestern Jamaica as a powerful Category 5 storm, destroying homes, cutting off power, and leaving communities without potable water.

Local residents described losing everything but clung to gratitude for survival.

“We have to give God thanks we are alive. We could be dead. But everything is gone. I don’t have anything left now,” said Taylor, a resident of Catherine Hall, Montego Bay.

Artists Unite for Relief

Nicki Minaj’s initiative joins a growing wave of celebrity support. Sean Paul pledged US $50,000 to match donations to Food For The Poor Jamaica, while Skeng and Shaniel Muir have also provided aid to affected residents.

As recovery continues, The Barbz Foundation’s presence in western Jamaica has become a symbol of compassion and solidarity — proof that when crisis hits, the global music community can unite to lift a nation back up.
