She Came Into This World Alongside Her Sister — She Leaves Behind a Community That Loved Her
Little Azora Elson, one of Jamaica’s beloved conjoined twins, has passed away.
Her mother, Iesha McMurray, confirmed the heartbreaking news on Tuesday morning. Azora died at hospital, leaving behind a family — and a nation — in grief.

Just last year, Azora and her twin sister made history when they were successfully separated during a five-hour surgery in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The girls were only two years old at the time. The November 2025 operation was celebrated across Jamaica as a miracle, a testament to what love, medicine, and determination could accomplish together.
Azora’s short life was filled with more courage than most people carry in a lifetime. She endured what few could imagine, and she did it in her earliest years, surrounded by the warmth of her family and the hopes of an entire country rooting for her.
To her mother Iesha, and to everyone who followed these little girls’ journey from the beginning — our hearts are with you.
Rest gently, Azora. 🕊️
