Former Miss Universe Jamaica Dr Gabrielle Henry has spoken publicly about the terrifying fall she suffered during the Miss Universe 2025 competition, saying she did not trip and was following instructions when she fell into an opening in the stage.
Henry, who suffered serious injuries, says the accident could have been prevented with proper safety measures.
The accident happened on November 19, 2025, during the Miss Universe competition.
Henry said she stopped when instructed, faced the cameras and then turned left when she was told to continue.
She said she has no memory of the actual fall and remembers waking up to see her mother before losing consciousness again.

Henry said she suffered an intracranial haemorrhage, along with facial and back injuries.
She described experiencing severe pain, sleepless nights and a difficult recovery from the brain injury.
Henry stressed that she did not trip, saying she believes appropriate protective measures around the stage could have prevented the accident.
Her comments come as she pursues a lawsuit against the Miss Universe Organisation and related companies over the incident.

The Miss Universe Organisation has said it covered Henry’s medical expenses while she was in Thailand and supported her following the accident.
Henry acknowledged receiving support initially, but said she has received little feedback regarding her continuing medical expenses since returning to Jamaica.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
Henry says her recovery is still ongoing and she hopes eventually to return to her work in ophthalmology.
Her lawsuit over the 2025 fall is also moving forward.
