Britney Spears Arrested for DUI — Unknown Substance Found in Car, Inner Circle Pushing for Treatment

Written by Primenewsplus

Pop icon Britney Spears was arrested Wednesday night on suspicion of driving under the influence, and sources say an unknown substance was also discovered inside her vehicle during the stop — deepening concerns among those closest to her about the 44-year-old’s well-being.

What Happened

Spears was pulled over by the California Highway Patrol around 9:30 p.m. in Westlake Village, Ventura County — not far from her home. Another driver had called 911 after witnessing what was described as erratic driving on the road. Spears was alone in the car at the time.

She was booked by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department in the early morning hours and released from custody around 6 a.m. She is scheduled to appear in court on May 4.

Following the traffic stop, Spears was transported to a hospital so that authorities could draw her blood to determine her level of intoxication. She was not injured during the incident. Sources say Britney told people her BAC came in at .06 — just below California’s legal limit of .08 — however, a DUI charge can still stand when officers observe dangerous driving behavior.

The Unknown Substance

In addition to the DUI, an unknown substance was found inside Spears’ vehicle during the stop. That substance is currently being tested as part of the ongoing investigation, and results are still pending.

This is not the first time substance use has surfaced as a concern in Spears’ life. During a 2007 custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline, a judge found there was habitual, frequent, and continuous use of controlled substances and alcohol. She subsequently sought mental health treatment through multiple rehab stints before her conservatorship was put in place in 2008.

Her Team Responds

Her manager Cade Hudson released a strikingly candid statement following the arrest, calling the incident completely inexcusable and saying the hope is that this marks the start of long overdue change in Britney’s life. He confirmed that her sons Sean Preston and Jayden James would be spending time with her, and that her loved ones planned to come together to create a plan focused on her long-term well-being and success.

Her Inner Circle Wants Treatment

Sources close to the situation say those in Britney’s inner circle are now rallying around her with one clear message — treatment, not punishment. They believe this could be a pivotal moment in her life and are pushing for the court to prioritize rehabilitation over jail time when she appears before a judge in May.

Where Things Stand

Since her conservatorship was terminated in 2021, Spears has largely stayed out of the public eye, communicating mainly through social media posts of herself dancing at home. Her Instagram account was taken down early Thursday morning following the arrest.

Just last month, she reportedly finalized the sale of her entire music catalog to publisher Primary Wave in a deal estimated to be worth around $200 million. Despite that financial milestone, those closest to her are now focused on one thing — making sure she finally gets the support she needs.

For millions of fans around the world who have followed Britney’s journey for decades, the hope is the same — that this becomes the turning point she has long deserved.

This is a developing story. We will continue to update as more information becomes available.
