Massive Grand Gala Slated for Jamaica’s 63rd Independence Celebration — Featuring 2,500 Performers Under the Theme “Be Proud, Be Bold, in Black, Green and Gold”What’s Happening?
As Jamaica marks 63 years of independence on August 6, 2025, the Grand Gala at the National Stadium in Kingston will bring together over 2,500 performers, uniting uniformed groups, dancers, musical legends, and youth talent in a spectacular cultural showcase.
Hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment & Sport through the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC), the event follows the official theme: “Be Proud, Be Bold, in Black, Green and Gold.”
What to Expect
-
The performers were recruited and trained from Kingston, St. Andrew, and St. Catherine, donning colorful costumes and delivering bold, patriotic messages through dance and pageantry
-
According to Minister Olivia “Babsy” Grange, the artistic director Michael Holgate has conceptualized an immersive show set on a stadium track decorated in national colors.
Cultural Highlights

Following the awards, gospel performances by Kevin Downswell, Petra Kaye, and Rondell Positive will lead into a powerful closing concert featuring Luciano and Christopher Martin.

The annual drone light show and island-wide fireworks, visible in parish capitals, will spark over-the-top celebrations well beyond the stadium.
