Tragedy in Ohio: 7-Month-Old Baby Fatally Attacked by Family Dog
An Ohio family is mourning the heartbreaking loss of their seven-month-old daughter, Elizah Renee Lynn Turner, who was tragically killed in a dog attack involving the family’s pit bull. The devastating incident occurred on April 9, leaving the parents and community in shock.
A Loving Bond That Turned Tragic
Elizah’s mother, Mackenzie Copley, and father, Kameron Turner, had three pit bulls in their home. Social media posts previously showed what seemed to be a loving bond between the baby and the pets. The family is now left grappling with the painful reality of what went wrong.
Mackenzie expressed her sorrow on Facebook, writing:
“I will never understand why… I am so lost and broken. This was the same dog who was side by side with my baby every single day.”
Kameron, equally devastated, added:
“How can I continue living without her? Life is so unfair.”
Investigation Underway, Dogs Removed from Home
Following the fatal mauling, Franklin County Animal Control removed the three dogs from the home. Police are currently investigating the incident, but authorities have classified the death as accidental and no charges have been filed against the parents.
Remembering Elizah Renee Lynn Turner
Described in her obituary as a joyful and spirited baby, Elizah was known for her contagious smile and vibrant energy.
“Elizah was spunky, happy, loved watching Miss Rachel, and was never without a smile,” the obituary reads. “She brought light to everyone’s life and gave her family purpose.”
Her nickname, “Kickin Wing,” was lovingly given by her grandfather because of her habit of excitedly kicking her legs whenever someone entered the room.
Community Support: GoFundMe Launched to Assist Grieving Family
To help cover funeral costs and provide financial relief during this difficult time, a GoFundMe campaign has been launched. The fundraiser notes the young couple had recently moved into a new home, full of dreams for the future, only to be faced with unimaginable grief.
The campaign states:
“No parent should ever have to endure this kind of pain. In a matter of moments, their beautiful journey as new parents was turned into one of unimaginable grief and heartbreak.”
The fundraising goal is $15,000, with just over $3,500 raised so far. The funeral is scheduled for Monday, April 14.
